Gambiaj.com – (Banjul, The Gambia) – G Wellness Company Limited, a subsidiary of MP Trading Group, has partnered with global hospitality giant Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to open The Gambia’s first internationally branded resort, described by the investors as a landmark move poised to transform the country’s tourism and hospitality landscape.
The new development is set to open in mid-2026 in the coastal town of Kotu, a vibrant tourist hotspot just 22 kilometers from Banjul International Airport and 15 kilometers from the capital city.
The resort, under the globally recognized Ramada by Wyndham brand, will boast 65 premium guest rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a lounge bar, an ocean-view swimming pool, a wellness spa, and meeting facilities – targeting both leisure and business travelers seeking high-quality accommodation.
“This project marks an important milestone not just for our company, but for the Gambia,” said Mr. Manish Tilokani, Chairman of MP Trading Group. “We are proud to introduce international hospitality standards to the country and contribute to its tourism-driven growth strategy. Our partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts affirms our long-term commitment to quality and sustainable development.”
Govind Mundra, Head of Development – Middle East & Africa at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, hailed the collaboration as a strategic expansion into an underserved but high-potential market.
“The Gambia is a dynamic and emerging destination in West Africa,” said Mundra. “This venture with G Wellness Company reflects our commitment to supporting growth in regions with untapped hospitality opportunities. We believe this is just the beginning of further developments in the region.”
The launch comes at a time when The Gambia is gaining momentum as a regional tourism hub, known for its warm hospitality, vibrant culture, and unspoiled beaches.
With over 620,000 tourist arrivals in 2019, the government continues to prioritize tourism in its national development agenda, investing in infrastructure and services to attract more international visitors.
Industry experts view the arrival of a globally recognized brand like Ramada by Wyndham as a signal of confidence in The Gambia’s potential and a catalyst for further foreign investment in the sector.
