Following the strong trends indicating the Diomaye coalition’s path to victory in the Presidential election, candidates wasted no time in sending messages of congratulations to the newly elected Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
Former minister and diplomat Abdoulaye Bathily, in a post on X, declared: “I congratulate Pastef and its leaders Ousmane Sonko and Diomaye Faye, and all the active forces of our country for this great victory that opens the way to the restoration of the Senegalese exception and the resumption of our beautiful country’s march towards democracy and progress.”
Among the messages of congratulations, one must particularly note the message from Karim Wade. “Dear compatriots, I warmly congratulate Bassirou Diomaye Faye for his resounding victory in the first round of the presidential election.”
Déthié Fall, candidate of the Déthié Fall 2024 coalition, was among the first candidates to congratulate the Diomaye coalition. “My dear compatriots, I thank God for allowing us to participate in this historic moment in our political life. I congratulate and thank all the militants and officials of the PRP and the DéthiéFALL2024 Coalition for their commitment and dedication throughout the electoral process.”
Aly Ngouille Ndiaye also participated in this concert of congratulations. “I congratulate the Diomaye President coalition for its victory in the commune of Linguère. As mayor and candidate in the presidential election, I thank all my militants and supporters for their unwavering support and commitment. I invite you to remain united and optimistic for the future. Congratulations to each of you for your hard work, and let us continue to believe in our common vision,” said the president of the Alyngouille 2024 Coalition.
Candidate Daouda Ndiaye, for his part, said, “I sincerely thank the militants, supporters, and sympathizers of President Daouda 2024 for their unwavering support and commitment by my side. I urge them, today more than ever, to remain united in order to prepare for other challenges that lie ahead. Congratulations to you. Also, in light of the current strong trends emerging, I congratulate the Diomaye coalition, which is clearly ahead. This is the victory of Senegalese democracy.”
