Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – The Ministry of Agriculture of The Gambia has issued a warning to the public regarding a fraudulent Facebook page falsely claiming to represent the Ministry and offering financial grants to farmers. In a press release, the Ministry clarified that neither the Ministry nor any of its affiliated groups or employees are associated with this deceptive page or the distribution of financial grants through Facebook.
The Ministry emphasized that its official Facebook page is dedicated to sharing information relevant to its activities and does not request personal or payment details. They urged the public to exercise caution regarding any suspicious communication, as it may lead to financial loss or identity theft if money or personal information is sent to those operating such fraudulent pages.
The Ministry advised against opening any links or attachments provided on the fraudulent Facebook page. They also provided the genuine Facebook account name and link for the Ministry of Agriculture of The Gambia:
The Ministry of Agriculture assumes no responsibility for any consequences, including financial loss and identity theft, that may result from falling victim to such scams.
The public is advised to verify the authenticity of any information received from social media sources and to report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities.
