Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – The Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment, in collaboration with the World Bank, has successfully wrapped up a 4-day national workshop focusing on the conceptual approach of the Business Ready (B-READY) methodology. This workshop equipe participants with the necessary tools for a successful pilot data collection in September 2024 and subsequent phases of evaluations.
During the workshop, Technical Working Groups were established to identify reform actions to be implemented in the short and medium term. Key objectives included revisiting questionnaires for each thematic group, analyzing responses, correcting the state of play in relation to indicators, ensuring correct reporting of proposals, and proposing a reform action plan.
The B-READY report, the World Bank’s flagship assessment of business environments and investment climates worldwide, evaluates the regulatory framework and public services directed at firms. It provides comparable data across economies and over time, offering actionable evidence to promote reforms for a stronger private sector.
The Gambia is among the pilot countries assessed by B-READY, with the first report expected in May 2024 and the second assessment in September 2024. This initiative aligns with efforts to enhance the business environment and investment climate, ultimately fostering economic growth and development in the country.
