Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The National Assembly has received an addendum to the report on assets linked to former Gambian president Yahya Jammeh after the Special Select Committee acknowledged that key sections were inadvertently left out of its original submission.
Hon. Abdoulie Ceesay, Chair of the Special Select Committee, informed lawmakers that portions of the report dealing with companies, equity holdings, and a category classified as “other assets” were missing when the document was first presented to the Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Ceesay explained that the omission was administrative and did not alter the substance of the committee’s findings. However, he noted that the missing sections were significant enough to require a formal addendum to ensure the Assembly had a complete record.
According to the committee, the addendum provides detailed recommendations regarding the management of companies linked to Jammeh and includes inventories of additional recovered items. These reportedly include jewelry, coins, electronic devices, and other valuables currently being held by authorities.
Lawmakers were informed that the addendum will now be treated as an integral part of the committee’s official report, allowing members to consider the full scope of the findings during their deliberations.
The disclosure prompted concern among some members of the Assembly, who emphasized the need for thoroughness and accuracy in documentation relating to matters of national importance.
The asset recovery process, which stems from the findings of the Janneh Commission, has drawn significant public attention and is widely viewed as a critical measure of accountability in the country’s post-Jammeh era.
Members of the National Assembly are expected to review both the original report and the addendum before making final determinations on the management and recovery of assets connected to the former president.
