Gambiaj.com – (Banjul, The Gambia) – The Electoral Commission of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has issued a final verdict on the petition concerning alleged constitutional violations during the party’s December 21st congress, disqualifying multiple candidates and confirming the election of new party leaders.
Following an extensive review process involving legal consultations, the Commission ruled that several candidates failed to comply with Article 14.3(E) of the PPP constitution, which mandates the signing of an undertaking to participate in electoral processes. The disqualified candidates include Ousman Madikay Faal, Alpha Ousman Jallow, Sohna Amie Badjan Mboob, Mbemba Nanko, Amadou Bah, Dawda K. Jarju, and Karafa Sambou.
As a result, the Electoral Commission has confirmed the following individuals as duly elected party officials: Kebba E. Jallow – Secretary General and Party Leader, Uthman A. N. Jeng – Deputy Secretary General and Party Leader, Ousainou M. I. Jallow – National President and Maimuna Sawaneh – Deputy National Treasurer
The Commission expressed appreciation to party members for their patience and cooperation during the review process. It reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining the integrity of the PPP’s democratic procedures and upholding its constitutional principles.
