Gambiaj.com – (Dakar, Senegal) – The Sangomar oil field, situated off Senegal’s coast, achieved a significant milestone in October 2024, producing 2.82 million barrels of crude oil. Since the project commenced in June, Sangomar has generated a total of 10.99 million barrels, with 10.57 million barrels already lifted and marketed through 11 international cargo shipments.
With its 12 operational wells performing as anticipated, Sangomar has sustained a steady daily output of approximately 100,000 barrels. This consistent production rate aligns with early forecasts, placing the project on track to reach an annual production target of 11.70 million barrels by the end of 2024.
The oil from Sangomar has found a solid footing in the global market, meeting international demand and contributing significantly to Senegal’s economic growth. Since production began, the field has become a linchpin of Senegal’s burgeoning oil sector, contributing not only to national revenue but also creating local job opportunities and driving further economic activity.
October’s robust performance reaffirms the operational stability and growth potential of the Sangomar project.
As Senegal looks to solidify its presence in the global energy market, the Sangomar field’s success is expected to play a pivotal role in the country’s long-term energy strategy and economic development agenda.
