Newborn Rescued Alive After Alleged Baby Dumping Incident in Fatoto

Gambiaj.com – (FATOTO, The Gambia) – Police in the Upper River Region have rescued a newborn baby following an alleged dumping incident involving a 20-year-old woman in Fatato.

According to a notice issued by the Gambia Police Force, officers at Fatato Police Station responded swiftly after receiving a report that a young woman from the community was suspected of disposing of her newborn child.

Police said officers immediately proceeded to the scene, where they worked with community members to rescue the baby. The child was found alive.

Both the mother and the newborn were quickly taken to the Fatoto Health Centre for urgent medical attention before being referred to Basse Main Hospital for further examination and care.

Authorities said the two are currently responding to treatment.

The police added that investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Gambia Police Force reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and ensuring justice as the investigation continues.
