Biden’s Cancer Has Spread Further and Is Causing Significant Pain, Son Says

Gambiaj.com – (DELAWARE, United States) – Former US President Joe Biden’s cancer has continued to spread and is causing him significant pain, according to his son, Hunter Biden.

Speaking to the BBC on Friday, Hunter said the 83-year-old former president’s prostate cancer has metastasized beyond his bones and has become increasingly debilitating.

It’s metastasized in his bones and further,” Hunter Biden told the BBC. “It’s very painful and very debilitating, in many respects.”

Biden was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in May 2025, several months after leaving office. His office said at the time that the cancer had already spread to his bones and that he was reviewing treatment options.

The former president underwent radiation and hormone therapy, which his family said he completed in October 2025. He also underwent surgery last year to remove cancerous skin cells.

Family Watching Biden Battle Cancer

Hunter Biden said it has been difficult for the family to watch his father deal with the disease, describing the former president as the family’s emotional anchor.

He is our rock. He has been there for each of us in a way that is hard for me to even possibly articulate and explain,” Hunter said.

He also expressed concern that his father does not complain enough about the pain he is experiencing.

I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good,” Hunter said.

Despite his deteriorating health, Biden has continued to make public appearances. In July, he delivered the keynote address at a fundraising event for the Maryland Democratic Party. He also attended the inauguration of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago in June.

His memoir, Promise Me, America, is scheduled for release in November.

He’s still out there, and he’s still doing his thing,” Hunter said. “As long as he’s alive, I promise you, he is going to continue to fight.

Jill Biden: Cancer Changes the Picture

Former First Lady Jill Biden also spoke publicly about her husband’s condition in June, acknowledging the seriousness of his diagnosis.

He’s doing OK,” Jill Biden said during an appearance on the TODAY show.

But she acknowledged that the spread of the cancer to his bones had significantly changed the outlook.

I think if he had just been diagnosed with prostate cancer, that’s one thing because that can be cured, but the fact that it metastasized to his bones, that makes it a whole different story,” she said.

Jill Biden added that she believed her husband would likely live with the disease for the rest of his life.

Biden left the White House in January 2025 after serving one term as president. His health and age became major issues during his final year in office, particularly after a poor performance in his June 2024 presidential debate against Donald Trump.
