Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – A woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing multiple gunshots toward the Los Angeles home of global music star and entrepreneur Rihanna, according to authorities.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to reports of gunfire at the singer’s property. Police said the shooting took place at approximately 1:20 p.m. local time.
Investigators reported that between five and seven shots were fired toward the residence. The bullets struck the exterior gate of the property but did not penetrate the house itself.
Although several people were inside the residence at the time of the shooting, authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported.
Police later located a woman believed to be responsible for the shooting and took her into custody without incident.
On Monday, the LAPD identified the suspect as Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a woman in her 30s. She has since been formally charged with attempted murder and is being held on bail set at $10.2 million.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed a possible motive for the alleged attack.
Representatives for Rihanna and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, have been contacted for comment.
Rihanna, one of the world’s best-selling music artists and a successful business entrepreneur, welcomed her third child last September. The singer had revealed the pregnancy during an appearance at the 2025 Met Gala.
The Barbados-born star has also been the subject of renewed anticipation among fans awaiting her long-delayed ninth studio album. Her last full-length project, Anti, was released in 2016, though recent reports indicate she has returned to the studio to work on new material.
