Gambiaj.com – (DAKAR, Senegal) – The UNITE Party, led by Talib Ahmed Bensouda, and the National Unity Party (NUP) under Lamin J. Darboe ,have formally signed a political alliance ahead of The Gambia’s December 5, 2026, presidential election.
The signing ceremony took place at Penchami Hall, where supporters of both parties have turned out in large numbers to witness the formalization of the agreement.
The venue was filled to capacity, with supporters dressed in the colors of their respective parties as they awaited the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Alliance Built Around Shared Commitments
The alliance is centered on what the two parties describe as shared commitments to democracy, national unity, accountability, and inclusive development.
Through the agreement, UNITE and NUP are expected to strengthen political cooperation and coordinate their efforts around areas of common interest as the country moves towards the 2026 presidential election.
The MoU is also expected to provide a framework for closer collaboration between the two parties and reinforce their stated commitment to democratic governance and national development.
