Barrow Warns Banjul North NAM Over Future State House Protest

Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, THE GAMBIA) – President Adama Barrow has warned Banjul North National Assembly Member Momodou Lamin Bah of serious consequences if he participates in another protest at State House, describing a recent youth-led demonstration as a treasonable offense.

Speaking in Banjul, Barrow criticized Bah for joining the protesters and questioned whether the lawmaker was adequately representing the interests of his constituents. “If he repeats his actions, he will regret it for the rest of his life,” the president warned.

According to President Barrow, mobilizing crowds to march on the State House is a treasonous offense. “If the protest march on State House was held when Yahya Jammeh was president, he would have shot dead all the marchers,” Barrow stated.

The President added that people should not take his tolerance and compassion for weakness.

Barrow also urged voters in Banjul North to elect a different representative in the next parliamentary election, accusing Bah of promoting division rather than serving the public interest.

The warning came as Barrow concluded his 19-day Meet the People Tour with a gathering of supporters and political allies at the Never Again Memorial Arch in Banjul.

The tour’s finale followed a series of engagements highlighting government development projects and community infrastructure across the country.

In Banjul, Barrow inaugurated a water storage tank valued at $736,700, which is expected to provide water to more than 15,000 residents.

He also visited the Crab Island Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre, inspected reconstruction work at KG5 Mini Stadium, and toured a newly established fish smokehouse.

At the closing gathering, APP-Sobeyaa leader Essa Mbye Faal defended his decision to support Barrow, citing the government’s development achievements and progress on reforms.

The 19-day tour combined community engagements, project inaugurations, and meetings with residents as the president’s administration prepares for the December 5, 2026, presidential election.
