Gambiaj.com – (BARRA, THE GAMBIA). The Gambia Ferry Services has announced that the Barra Ferry will undergo routine maintenance from Monday, October 26, to Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
According to a public notice issued by the ferry management, the maintenance is expected to take approximately 48 hours and will involve the replacement of filters and other essential components.
The management did not provide details on whether the maintenance will result in a complete suspension of the ferry operations during the period.
The Barra-Banjul ferry service is a key transport link between the northern bank of the River Gambia and the Greater Banjul Area, carrying commuters, vehicles and goods across the river.
The Gambia Ferry Services apologized to members of the public for any inconvenience caused by the maintenance and appealed for their patience and cooperation.
The management said the work was part of routine maintenance aimed at keeping the ferry operational.
