Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The Ministry of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs has warned beneficiaries of plots allocated under the Brusubi Mini Institutional Layout against selling or transferring their allocations without prior government approval, cautioning that violators risk losing their plots.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the ministry said it had become aware that some individuals allocated plots in the layout were selling or attempting to transfer them to third parties without the knowledge or consent of the ministry.
Allocations Non-Transferable
The ministry reminded allottees that the plots were allocated under specific terms and conditions that expressly prohibit transfers without official approval.
It stressed that all allocations are non-transferable and that any sale, transfer, assignment, or other form of disposal carried out without the prior written approval of the Minister of Lands constitutes a breach of the allocation conditions.
According to the ministry, any allottee found to have sold, transferred, or attempted to transfer an allocated plot without the minister’s authorization will have the allocation revoked immediately and without further notice.
Buyers Also Warned
The ministry also cautioned prospective buyers against purchasing any plots within the Brusubi Mini Institutional Layout through private arrangements, stating that it would not recognize or entertain claims arising from unauthorized transactions.
“The public is therefore strongly advised not to purchase or enter into any agreement concerning allocated plots at the Brusubi Mini Institutional Layout,” the statement said.
The warning signals the government’s intention to tighten oversight of land allocations and prevent unauthorized transactions that could undermine the integrity of the allocation process.
Commitment to Fair Land Administration
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring transparency, fairness, and compliance with established land allocation procedures.
It urged all beneficiaries of the Brusubi Mini Institutional Layout to strictly adhere to the conditions governing their allocations, warning that failure to do so could result in the loss of their rights to the allocated plots.
