Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The Gambia Police Force is investigating a fatal stabbing involving two minors in Tallinding after a 15-year-old boy died from injuries allegedly inflicted during an assault by a 16-year-old suspect.
According to a police statement issued on Friday, preliminary investigations indicate that the victim sustained a stab wound to the abdomen after he was allegedly assaulted by the older teenager.
The injured boy was initially taken to Kanifing General Hospital for treatment before being referred to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH), where he later died from his injuries.
Police said the 16-year-old suspect has been arrested and remains in custody while investigations continue. Officers have also recovered the alleged weapon believed to have been used in the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged assault have not yet been disclosed, and police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full facts of the case.
The Gambia Police Force extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and said further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
