Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – Police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with the alleged murder of Ebrima Njie, a 28-year-old auto electrician from Latrikunda German, following a fatal stabbing incident that occurred on Monday.

In a statement, police identified the suspect as Buba Jallow, who is currently in custody and assisting investigators.

According to the police, Njie sustained fatal stab wounds during an alteredcation on June 29, 2026, and later died at the Kanifing General Hospital.

Investigators said preliminary findings indicate that the victim reported to the Latrikunda German Police Post at about 8:48 p.m. on the day of the incident, alleging that he had been stabbed by Jallow, an adult male from the same community.

Police said initial enquiries suggest the incident arose from an earlier dispute over the repair of a motor vehicle. Following the disagreement, the suspect allegedly confronted Njie near his workshop and stabbed him before fleeing the scene.

The victim was rushed to the Kanifing General Hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.

Police further disclosed that Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene, collected statements from witnesses and recovered several exhibits as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities confirmed that Jallow has now been arrested and remains in police custody. They added that once investigations are completed, the case will be forwarded for prosecution in accordance with the law.

The arrest comes after appeals from members of the Latrikunda German community and relatives of the deceased for the suspect’s apprehension following the fatal stabbing.

Police said investigations into the matter are continuing.
