Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, THE GAMBIA) – A worker at the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) has reportedly died following an accident at the port grounds on Sunday.
The victim has been identified by witnesses as 47-year-old Buba Sahi of Tabokoto.
Initial accounts suggest that Sahi was struck by a moving crane and sustained injuries that left him with no chance of survival.
However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. It has not yet been established whether the accident occurred during normal work operations or under other circumstances.
Police and fire service personnel have reportedly been deployed to the scene as authorities begin to establish what happened.
