Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – Kemo Ceesay has been elected president of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) after securing an absolute majority in Saturday’s election at the federation’s elective assembly in Banjul.
The former GFF financial director won 41 of the 77 votes cast by delegates, giving him a clear victory in the three-way race to succeed outgoing president Lamin Kaba Bajo.
Former Gambia national team international Colonel Musa Jammeh finished second with 24 votes, while Sadibou Kamaso, who contested under the “Team Restore Confidence” slate, came in third with 12 votes.
Ceesay will immediately take over from Bajo and lead the country’s football governing body for the next four years.
Three-Way Contest
The election followed an Extraordinary and General Assembly, during which the outgoing GFF executive was expected to present a comprehensive review of its tenure, covering administrative developments, financial transactions, operational challenges, and future plans.
The presidential race brought together three candidates with different backgrounds and experiences within Gambian football, as delegates gathered to choose the next leadership of the federation.
With 41 votes out of 77 cast, Ceesay crossed the threshold for an outright majority, avoiding any need for a further round of voting.
His election marks the beginning of a new chapter for the GFF, with the incoming president set to oversee the federation’s affairs during the next four-year term at a time when Gambian football continues to face expectations for stronger domestic development and sustained progress on the international stage.
