Police Begin Prosecution in Alleged Sexual Offence Case Involving Kexx

Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The The Gambia Police Force has commenced prosecution proceedings in an alleged sexual offence case involving a minor against Mr. Kemeseng Sanneh, widely known as Kexx.

The matter was first called before the Children’s Court on Wednesday, May 7, 2026.

During the initial court proceedings, the prosecution filed a motion seeking a court order for DNA confirmation as part of the ongoing investigation. Defense lawyers objected to the application and raised preliminary legal arguments before the court.

Following submissions from both the prosecution and defense, the court adjourned the matter to June 4, 2026, to allow the prosecution time to respond to the preliminary objection.

Police said the case is being handled in line with due process and the rule of law, while emphasizing the need to protect vulnerable persons, particularly children.

The case has attracted significant public attention, partly due to Mr. Sanneh’s recent arrest in a separate police operation involving members of Gambians Against Looted Assets (GALA) during a public gathering incident.

Public reactions to the case have been mixed, with some people questioning the timing and sequence of events, while others have urged restraint and called for the judicial process to proceed without speculation or external influence.

The matter remains before the Children’s Court and is expected to resume on the adjourned date, when further legal arguments from both sides are anticipated.
