Mbour: The BR of Saly seizes 150 kg of Indian hemp from the Gambia, the owner arrested

The Research Brigade (BR) of Saly, under the responsibility of the gendarmerie company of Mbour, dealt a severe blow to cross-bornedom crime by dismantling an international network of drug trafficking. Investigators seized 150 kilograms of Indian hemp from The Gambia.

The defendant, N.S. alias Pape, 37 years old and originally from the commune of Ndiaganiao, practises the profession of fisherman. He has been taken into custody for criminal association and international trafficking in Indian hemp, according to Seneweb sources.

The intervention of the gendarmes follows intelligence indicating the existence of international drug trafficking between the Gambia and Senegal. Acting on this information, elements of Saly’s BR set up a surveillance team that quickly helped locate the trafficker’s hiding place.

A descent was made Thursday at the ecological park Orstome of Mbour, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Investigators discovered and seized 150 kilograms of Indian hemp contained in bags carefully concealed in the bushes.

Arrested the day before, Wednesday, December 24, 2025, N.S. alias Pope has admitted to being the owner of the illicit goods. During his interrogation, he claimed to have transported seven packages of Indian hemp weighing a total of 350 kilograms from Bara, Gambia, to the coast of Mbour.

According to his statements, the network managed to deliver 200 kilograms of drugs before being forced to conceal the remaining 150 kilograms in the bushes of the Orstome ecological park of Mbour, where they were finally discovered by the gendarmes.
