Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) has officially unveiled its election manifesto and launched a suite of digital platforms, including an artificial intelligence-powered assistant dubbed “Ask Barrow AI,” as it seeks to strengthen engagement with voters ahead of the upcoming elections.
The launch event served as both a presentation of the party’s policy agenda and a showcase of new digital tools designed to make information about the NPP, its programs, and its presidential candidate, President Adama Barrow, more accessible to the public.
Central to the manifesto is the party’s newly introduced Nine-Point Agenda, which places strong emphasis on youth empowerment, job creation, skills development, women’s advancement, food security, infrastructure expansion, and improved public services.
According to the NPP, the plan reflects its vision for “a stronger, more inclusive, and prosperous Gambia” built on sustainable development and guided by the achievements recorded during President Barrow’s tenure.
The party pledged continued investment in roads, electricity, water supply, internet connectivity, ports, and transport infrastructure while reaffirming commitments to healthcare, education, and social welfare services.
NPP Deputy Spokesperson Njie described the manifesto launch as a defining national moment that articulates the party’s vision for continued progress, stability, opportunity, and inclusive prosperity.
He said the manifesto serves as a roadmap for national development and a renewed commitment to delivering tangible results for Gambians.
Alongside the manifesto, the party unveiled a digital platform featuring Barrow AI, an interactive assistant designed to answer questions on NPP policies, elections, government programs, and other national issues in real time.
The website also includes a membership portal, allowing prospective members to register online and locate the nearest NPP bureau. The Nine-Point Agenda has also been made available in local languages and sign language to improve accessibility.
NPP Administrative Secretary Seedy Sheriff Ceesay said the newly launched platforms, including the NPP Mobile App, Barrow AI, and Ask Barrow AI, represent the party’s commitment to using technology to enhance citizen engagement.
“As part of this commitment, we are launching the NPP Mobile App for the first time, alongside Barrow AI and Ask Barrow AI, innovative platforms that will make it easier for citizens to access information about our party, our programs, and our vision for The Gambia,” Ceesay said.
He added that the platforms would allow citizens to interact with party information through simple and accessible technology.
Introducing the manifesto and digital innovations, Dr. Amadou Scattred Janneh described the initiative as unprecedented in Gambian politics, saying no political party in the country had previously introduced such a comprehensive digital ecosystem.
He said the manifesto was developed through extensive consultations and research involving multiple committees and communities across the country, under the guidance of President Barrow.
According to Dr. Janneh, the document differs from traditional campaign manifestos by combining an assessment of the government’s performance over the past five years with a detailed plan for the next five years across 14 sectors.
“The manifesto is the people’s document,” he said, noting that it reflects the aspirations and priorities gathered from Gambians during the consultation process.
He highlighted several accessibility features, including audio versions in Mandinka, Wolof, Fula, Jola, and Sarahule, as well as sign-language video presentations. Users can also access and download the manifesto through QR codes integrated into printed copies and the NPP mobile application.
Dr. Janneh credited members of the party’s Blueprint Committee, communications team, and digital developers for helping create the platform, which he described as a revolutionary step in political communication in The Gambia.
Addressing supporters at the launch, President Barrow said the manifesto and Nine-Point Plan represent more than campaign promises, describing them as a continuation of the government’s national transformation agenda.
“The NPP Manifesto and Nine-Point Plan launched are not mere campaign instruments. They signify our continued commitment to the Gambian people and reflect the next phase of our national transformation journey,” Barrow said.
The President said the NPP has evolved into a mature national party built on peace, stability, development, and inclusiveness, adding that its objective extends beyond electoral victories to the long-term development of the country.
He identified youth and women as key pillars of the party’s vision, pledging expanded opportunities in education, entrepreneurship, technology, sports, and leadership.
“Our young people deserve skills, jobs, technology, entrepreneurship opportunities, and access to modern industries,” Barrow said.
He also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to expanding opportunities for women in business, agriculture, education, leadership, and public service.
On food security, the President pledged continued investment in irrigation, rice production, livestock development, fisheries modernization, and agro-processing to reduce reliance on imports and boost national self-sufficiency.
Barrow further promised sustained investments in roads, electricity, water systems, internet connectivity, ports, and transport networks, which he described as the backbone of the economy.
He said the government would also continue strengthening healthcare, education, and other social welfare services as part of its broader development agenda.
