Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The Department of Water Resources has forecast chances of rain showers and thunderstorms across The Gambia from Sunday night through Wednesday, with the western part of the country expected to be particularly affected overnight.
According to the department’s weather forecast issued for Sunday, October 4, slight to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms could occur around 2:30am, particularly over the western sector of the country.
The department said Monday is expected to begin mainly cloudy before becoming warm, with further chances of rain showers and thunderstorms from around 2pm.
Southerly winds are expected to prevail, with speeds ranging between 8 and 28 kilometers per hour. Temperatures are forecast to range from a minimum of 22°C in the North Bank Region to a maximum of 31°C in the Greater Banjul Area.
For Monday, temperatures are expected to reach 31°C in Banjul and Kanifing, while the West Coast, North Bank, Lower River, Central River, and Upper River regions are expected to record maximum temperatures between 30°C and 31°C.
More rain is expected Tuesday and Wednesday.
The department’s outlook indicates that the unsettled weather could continue into the middle of the week.
Tuesday is expected to remain generally cloudy in the morning before becoming warm, with chances of rain showers and thunderstorms between about 3pm and 8pm.
On Wednesday, mainly cloudy conditions are expected in the morning, followed by warmer conditions and further chances of rain showers and thunderstorms between 4pm and 10pm.
