President Barrow Inspects Major Road Projects Across Greater Banjul Area, West Coast Region

Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – President Adama Barrow on Tuesday conducted an inspection tour of several ongoing road and infrastructure projects across the Greater Banjul Area and the West Coast Region as the government pushes ahead with its urban roads development program.

The President was accompanied by senior government officials, including Works Minister Ebrima Sillah, Information Minister Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, Finance Minister Seedy Keita, Trade Minister Mod K. Ceesay, and West Coast Region Governor Ousman Bojang.

The delegation visited a number of construction sites stretching from Kotu and Sukuta to Brikama, Kassa Kunda, and Giboroh in Kombo East, where road construction, bridge works, and drainage installations are currently underway. The team also toured the well-known Narang Road project area.

At the Sukuta overpass, engineers and construction workers were seen actively working on different sections of the structure, while nearby road expansion works continued simultaneously.

Across several communities visited during the tour, residents expressed optimism over the impact the projects are expected to have on transportation, trade, and daily life.

“People are seeing development with their own eyes now,” a resident of Kassa Kunda said. “These roads will help transport goods and business between communities.”

In Brikama, resident Lamin Jarju said the ongoing road works are already easing movement for motorists and residents.

Before, some of these roads were very difficult, especially during the rainy season,” he said. “Now people are hopeful things will improve further.”

Finance Minister Seedy Keita said the projects demonstrate how government investment in infrastructure can directly improve the lives of ordinary Gambians.

You can see the impact on transport, commerce, and opportunities for the people,” he stated during the tour.

Trade Minister Mod K. Ceesay also highlighted the expected economic benefits for traders, particularly women and youths involved in small businesses.

These new roads will help open up more economic opportunities,” he said.

The inspection covered key transport corridors and communities including Kotu, Senegambia, Sukuta, Tabokoto, Abuko, Old Yundum, Jabang, Brikama, Giboroh, and Kassa Kunda, where construction activities continue under the government’s road infrastructure expansion program.
