Turkmenistan, The Gambia Agree To Deepen Diplomatic, Trade And Education Cooperation

Gambiaj.com – (ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan) – President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan and Gambian Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow have agreed to pursue closer cooperation between their two countries, with discussions centering on stronger political-diplomatic ties, expanded trade and economic relations, and collaboration in education.

The meeting took place as Vice President Jallow visited Turkmenistan to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, President Berdimuhamedov said his country attaches great importance to building friendly and mutually beneficial relations with countries across the world, including African states.

He affirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to develop relations with The Gambia, particularly in the political-diplomatic and trade-economic spheres.

The Turkmen leader also told his Gambian counterpart that Turkmenistan is prepared to support proposals aimed at advancing bilateral ties between the two countries.

For his part, Vice President Jallow highlighted the importance of cultural and humanitarian relations and expressed The Gambia’s strong interest in working with Turkmenistan in the area of education.

The discussions also served as an opportunity for Turkmenistan to showcase its economic progress, with President Berdimuhamedov noting that the Gambian vice president’s visit would include engagements with Turkmen officials and exposure to the country’s development achievements.

At the close of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their intention to continue cooperation on the basis of shared principles, in what was presented as a further step toward broadening relations between Banjul and Ashgabat.
